Now that you have seen our flavors you need to figure out how to create your own custom flavors. The easiest place to start is by adding it to your Halo Fusion Unflavored E-liquid. By using the unflavored e-liquid it allows you to select your base of PG or VG and your nicotine strength premixed. To this you can then add your flavor concentrates to make your final flavored e-liquid. But wait, first we need to figure out what strength of flavoring you want! The most common flavoring strengths are Low, Medium, or High, otherwise known as 5%, 10%, or 15%. Now for the hard part, we need to do math. To start we need to know how much e-liquid you are using and how strong you want your flavoring.

Halo Fusion E-liquid PG

Propylene Glycol (PG) - PG is an almost flavorless, thin, clear and odorless organic compound. It’s often used in personal care products, foods, and pharmaceuticals similar to VG. In vape juice, PG is the ingredient that carries the flavor so you typically mix a higher amount of PG if the goal is to emphasize flavor over larger clouds.

Halo Fusion VG E-liquid

Vegetable Glycerin (VG) - VG is a clear, odorless, relatively thick liquid typically made from soybean, coconut or palm oils. VG is mildly sweet and can be found in many products including foods, pharmaceuticals, personal care products and obviously, e-juice. Its primary purpose in eLiquid is to generate the visible “clouds” produced when vaping.

Nicotine salt is similar to traditional nicotine in that it comes in liquid form, suspended in a PG or VG base. However, the main difference with nicotine salt is that it offers a more satisfying vaping experience. The binding process of the ingredients is what creates the “smoothness” of salt nicotine juices. Standard nicotine ejuice sometimes feels too harsh or “throaty” at higher strengths, while nic salts typically provide a more flavorful, pleasantly satisfying vape at similar levels.

Creating a custom flavor blend of your juice is where the real fun of DIY begins. If a consumable product tastes good, there is a flavor concentrate of it. Fruits, desserts, candies, coffee drinks, tobaccos, cereals, and even some foods are all categories of concentrates with a multitude of individual flavors among them. Almost every concentrate you’ll encounter is diluted with a PG base. Be sure to take this extra PG into account when you’re figuring out your juice’s ratio. A reliable DIY E-juice calculator will factor this in for you. When storing your flavor concentrates make sure to keep them away from heat sources.

Recommended Vape Supplies

Bottles – You’ll definitely need bottles to mix and store your juice. Whichever size of bottle you choose is purely up to you. Most manufacturers package liquids in 30mL, 60mL, or 120ml bottles. If you want smaller sizes for testing or samples, 10mL and 15mL bottles are available too. Smaller bottle sizes are recommended when you’re experimenting with new recipes. That way you’ll conserve ingredients and reduce the amount of wasted liquid.

Pipettes and/or Syringes - Transfer Pipettes and syringes facilitate a good, clean transfer of ingredients between containers. Transfer pipettes and syringes come with well-defined milliliter measurements, so liquid mixtures can be transferred with precision. They also come in a variety of sizes. An e-juice that needs a large volume of flavor will be more efficiently transferred with a 10mL or 20mL syringe. Smaller volumes or multiple flavors at smaller percentages are more easily transferred with a 1mL or 5mL syringe.

Gloves - Nitrile gloves are highly recommended to prevent contamination. Since direct contact with nicotine is harmful to the skin, covering your hands is a very important safety measure any time you mix.

Labels - Although not required, purchasing sticker labels for your bottles is a wise investment. Recording the date, PG/VG ratio, test number, etc. of each new bottle helps to avoid future confusion and differentiate similar looking bottles.

Completing the Process

Labeling - After you’ve assembled and capped your bottle, you’ll want to label it with important information such as the name, ratio, strength, creation date, and formula or test number.

Steeping - Fresh e-juice must be steeped to achieve optimal flavor. Steeping involves giving the juice time to sit for a while so the ingredients can blend evenly throughout the bottle. We recommend a natural steeping process, which is called “breathing”. You'll need to remove the cap and let the juice breathe which allows any remaining alcohol used in many flavorings to evaporate away. Depending on factors like ratio and flavoring, vape juice needs to steep anywhere from a few days to a week or more. A helpful rule of thumb for steeping is that the “heavier” the juice’s flavor, the longer it needs to steep. A double chocolate mocha with a splash of vanilla will require several more days to reach optimal flavor than a fruit like blueberry or a basic menthol.

Storage - E-juice doesn’t last long in sunlight or humid environments. Generally speaking, it's best when the eLiquid is kept in a dark, cool place away from any children or pets.
